Pure Tallow Glow: 100% Beef Tallow Moisturiser

Unscented 100% Tallow Lip Balm

This lip balm is our most direct expression of what tallow can do. No scent, no added notes, just the natural character of the ingredients and the way they interact with the skin. If your lips are easily irritated or tend to stay dry no matter what you use, this is the version that shows what a simple, well-balanced formulation can achieve.

Once applied, it settles into a smooth, protective layer that feels supportive rather than glossy. It’s the kind of balm you reach for when your lips are dry, splitting, or feeling stripped from weather or constant reapplication of other products. Everything in the formula is there to help the lips stay hydrated and stable.

Grass-Fed Beef Tallow

Tallow is at the centre of this formula for a reason. Its natural blend of fatty acids; including stearic, oleic and palmitic acids. These fatty acids are remarkably similar to the lipids that make up our own skin barrier. Because of this, it doesn’t behave like a coating. It blends in, supporting the lips’ ability to stay moisturised on their own.

It’s also rich in vitamins A, D, E and K, which contribute to softness, resilience and the steady repair of flaking or cracked areas. For chronically dry lips, this nutrient profile makes a noticeable difference in how quickly the skin settles.

Sheep Lanolin

Lanolin contributes a different kind of support, it helps retain the moisture that tallow provides. If your lips tend to tighten or split in colder weather, lanolin is especially useful because it keeps the surface flexible. It absorbs gradually, creating a long-lasting comfort that doesn’t require constant reapplication. When paired with tallow, it creates a balanced, dependable level of hydration.

Beeswax

Beeswax brings structure and staying power to the formula. It forms a light, breathable layer that helps protect the lips from dry air, wind and temperature changes. This ingredient also gives the balm a more grounded texture - firm enough to hold shape in the tin, soft enough to melt smoothly when applied.

Perfect For

• Lips that peel, crack or feel constantly depleted

• People who avoid fragrance, essential oils or flavoured balms

• Those with highly reactive or sensitive skin

• Everyday use, especially in conditions that dry the lips quickly

• Anyone wanting a formula built entirely around skin-compatible ingredients

Why Tallow?

Lip skin is thin and loses moisture faster than other areas of the face. Tallow supports it in a way few ingredients can: the fatty acid profile is so close to our own that it integrates easily and fortifies the barrier without creating a slippery film. That means moisture stays in place longer, and the lips gradually feel softer and more resilient.

When tallow is combined with lanolin and beeswax, you get a balm that behaves with a natural steadiness, protective without heaviness & restorative without gloss.

The unscented version keeps the focus purely on function: a straightforward, reliable blend that brings the lips back to a calmer, healthier state.

  • 100% Grass Fed Beef Tallow
  • Lanolin
  • Beeswax

Why It Works

1. Bioavailable Lipids That Support the Lip Barrier

Grass-fed beef tallow contains fatty acids that are remarkably close to the lipids naturally found in the skin. This compatibility allows the balm to blend in easily and support dry or cracked lips more effectively than many surface-level moisturisers.

Key fatty acids include:

• Oleic Acid: Encourages smooth absorption and helps carry nutrients into the skin.
• Palmitic Acid: Contributes to barrier strength and helps prevent moisture loss.
• Stearic Acid: Softens and smooths rough or flaky areas.
• Linoleic Acid: Helps calm irritation and supports the skin’s natural repair process.

Because these fatty acids reflect what the lips are already made of, they deliver moisture in a way that feels stable and comfortable.

2. Naturally Present Fat-Soluble Vitamins

Tallow provides a concentrated source of vitamins that support lip health:

• Vitamin A: Encourages gentle renewal and helps improve texture.
• Vitamin D: Supports healing and overall barrier function.
• Vitamin E: Offers antioxidant protection and helps settle irritation.
• Vitamin K: Contributes to a more even, healthy look in damaged or stressed lip skin.

These vitamins work together to replenish and protect delicate lip tissue.

3. Lasting Hydration from Lanolin’s Moisture-Binding Ability

Lanolin is highly effective at helping the lips hold onto moisture. It binds water within the skin rather than sitting on top, which is why it’s so helpful for tight, cracked or easily dehydrated lips.

It reinforces elasticity, reduces the chance of splitting and pairs well with tallow to maintain comfort throughout the day.

4. Beeswax Helps the Balm Stay Put

Beeswax gives the formula shape and helps it remain in place once applied. It provides light protection against wind and dry air while still allowing the skin to breathe.

It also helps slow down how quickly the balm wears off, so the benefits of tallow and lanolin remain active for longer.

5. A Simple, Direct Formula Suited to Sensitive Skin

With only three core ingredients; tallow, lanolin and beeswax, this balm avoids the common additives that often cause irritation or dryness. Each ingredient plays a specific role in supporting the lips’ natural barrier, making the formula especially suitable for sensitive or reactive skin.

The result is steady hydration, improved barrier function and a comfortable finish that lasts.

How To Use

Apply a small amount to the lips as needed throughout the day. The balm melts on contact, so a light swipe is enough to deliver full nourishment.

For best results:

• Use on clean lips to allow the tallow and lanolin to absorb fully.
• Reapply before exposure to wind, cold, or dry air for added protection.
• Apply a slightly thicker layer at night as an overnight conditioning treatment.
• Can also be used around the lip line to soften fine, dry areas.

The balm is concentrated, so each tin lasts longer than conventional lip products. Let it warm against the skin, and allow the natural ingredients to support repair and long-lasting moisture.

Skin Experience

Our 100% tallow formulas - like Pure Tallow Glow and Vanilla Infused Tallow - are dense and firm by nature. These recipes contain no carrier oils or additives, which means the texture is harder but melts directly into the skin on contact.

If you prefer a softer, more spreadable consistency, our balms made with added carrier oils (like Radiant Repair and Balancing Beauty) are whipped to be lighter, silkier, and easier to apply.

Each product offers a different skin feel, all intentionally formulated for different needs and preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Beef tallow is rendered fat from cattle, rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. Its composition closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin, making it an excellent moisturiser and skin barrier protector. In skincare, it’s used to deeply nourish, hydrate, and support skin health without synthetic additives.

Beef tallow has a low comedogenic rating, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores. It helps balance natural oil production, making it suitable even for acne-prone skin when used correctly.

Our beef tallow comes from a trusted local farm in Sunshine Coast, QLD. The cattle are 100% grass-fed, homegrown, and raised without hormones or antibiotics in a natural, stress-free environment. This ensures our tallow is nutrient-rich, ethical, and sustainably sourced.

Absolutely! Beef tallow is excellent for facial skin, providing deep hydration without clogging pores. It’s especially beneficial for dry or sensitive skin and can even help soothe conditions like eczema or rosacea.

Store your Fat Lab skincare products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Our products are shelf-stable but keeping them at room temperature or cooler will ensure maximum freshness.

Unlike shea butter or coconut oil, beef tallow’s composition closely mimics human skin, making it more easily absorbed. It also provides a unique balance of vitamins and fatty acids that are particularly effective for long-lasting hydration and skin repair.

Yes, we use 100% grass-fed beef suet fat as the base of our skincare. Suet is the clean, hard fat found around the kidneys and loins of healthy, grass-fed cattle, known for being nutrient-dense and exceptionally pure. When it’s slowly rendered, it turns into tallow, a rich stable fat naturally packed with vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and essential fatty acids that closely mirror the oils our skin produces on its own.

We choose suet because it creates a higher-grade tallow that’s cleaner, lighter and more stable than other fats. It absorbs effortlessly into the skin, delivers deep nourishment without synthetic additives, and supports the skin barrier in a way no plant or synthetic oil can. In short, suet is the gold standard of animal fats and the reason our tallow performs the way it does.

Our beef tallow is carefully rendered and refined to remove impurities and odours. While it has a mild, natural scent, we also blend it with essential oils or botanicals for a pleasant aroma in our skincare products.

Our beef tallow is not halal-certified. We source our suet from a small, local Queensland farm that raises 100% grass-fed, hormone-free cattle, but the animals are not processed under halal certification. While our products contain no pork or alcohol and are made from pure beef fat, we do not market them as halal.

Why Your Body

LOVES Tallow

It mirrors the skin’s own lipids

Tallow’s fatty acid profile closely resembles the fats found in healthy human skin. That similarity makes it easier for the skin to recognise and integrate, rather than treat it as something foreign.

It supports the skin barrier.

Tallow reinforces the lipid barrier that controls moisture loss and protection. When the barrier is supported, skin becomes calmer, more resilient, and less reactive over time.

It delivers fat-soluble nutrients the skin actually uses.

Naturally occurring vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble, meaning the skin can access them effectively when delivered in a fat-based form like tallow.

It provides long-lasting hydration without water

Because tallow is anhydrous, it doesn’t rely on water that evaporates quickly. It reduces moisture loss by sealing and supporting the barrier, leading to hydration that lasts.

It’s highly tolerated by compromised or sensitive skin

Skin that struggles with irritation, over-exfoliation, or chronic dryness often responds better to familiar lipid structures. Tallow is rarely disruptive when formulated and used properly.

It works with skin biology, not against it

Tallow doesn’t stimulate, exfoliate, or force change. It supports normal skin function, allowing the skin to repair, stabilise, and regulate itself.
