Spring Revival Limited Edition

Spring Revival Lip Balm
Limited edition

There is a moment, usually in early spring, when you notice your lips have not been right for months. Not cracked, just permanently rough. The same corner flaking. Lip colour catching. Dry again an hour after you apply something. You have been reapplying since autumn without ever getting ahead of it.

Winter runs your skin barrier at a deficit for months, and lips have almost none of the protective structure the rest of your face relies on. What you are still seeing in spring is the backlog. Most balms seal the surface rather than deal with what sits underneath, which is why the reapplying never ends.

Key Ingredients & Their Benefits

Grass-Fed Beef Tallow

Every Fat Lab product starts with suet, the hard fat from around the kidneys, rather than the trim fat most tallow skincare uses. Suet is the most nutrient dense fat on the animal and the most stable, and it is a fraction of the yield, which is why almost nobody bothers. We render it slowly at low temperature so its vitamins A, D, E and K survive the process.

Its fatty acid profile is close enough to a healthy skin barrier that lips absorb it rather than wear it. That is the difference between a balm that addresses dryness and one that covers it.

Sheep Lanolin

If you have ever used lanolin nipple cream, you already know what this ingredient does to skin that nothing else will touch. It is the reason this balm outlasts the ones you are used to.

Lanolin holds up to twice its weight in water and binds it into the skin barrier beneath a soft, breathable layer, so moisture stays where it is useful instead of evaporating. Dermatologists and pharmacists have reached for it on badly cracked skin for decades. No other tallow lip balm we know of includes it, because it is expensive and most formulas do not need to work this hard.

Natural Beeswax

Structure, and a protective layer that still lets skin breathe. Enough to hold the balm in place through warm dry air and wind, without the heaviness a winter formula needs.

Avocado Oil

Avocado's value sits in its unsaponifiable fraction, the portion of the oil made up of sterols and vitamins rather than fatty acids. Most plant oils run around one percent. Avocado runs several times that, and those plant sterols are what let it condition well past the surface layer where lighter oils stop.

Paired with its high oleic acid content and naturally occurring vitamin E, this is the ingredient doing the deep work on lips that have been dry since autumn.

Infused slowly to extract their aroma and antioxidant properties, vanilla gives the balm a warm, subtle scent that feels grounding and comforting. It naturally masks any tallow notes while supporting skin recovery and soothing irritation.

Apricot Kernel Oil

One of the best tolerated botanical oils there is, which is why it appears constantly in formulations built for sensitive and reactive skin. Its balance of oleic and linoleic acids softens rough texture while absorbing quickly, and it gives the balm its glide without weight.

If winter has left your lips easily irritated, apricot kernel is the ingredient keeping this formula gentle enough to use on them.

Green Tea Oil

Cold pressed from the seed, carrying green tea's catechins and polyphenols alongside a high oleic acid content. Green tea is among the most extensively researched antioxidants in all of skincare, studied for decades for how it supports skin against environmental stress.

That matters more in spring than any other season. As daylight lengthens and you spend more time outdoors, antioxidant support becomes the thing a formula most needs to provide.

Blueberry Seed Oil

A concentrated source of tocopherols, carotenoids and natural antioxidants, high in omega-3 fatty acids with a large proportion of alpha-linolenic acid. It is one of the best sources anywhere of tocotrienols, a rarer form of vitamin E, which research has found more effective than standard vitamin E at defending skin against environmental stressors.

Nutrient dense and still remarkably light. Cold pressed from seeds that would otherwise be discarded by the juice industry.

Bergamot FCF

The scent: citrus at the top, with a green, faintly floral depth underneath that lemon and orange do not have. Fresh rather than sweet. Bergamot also brings its own polyphenols and flavonoids, adding to the antioxidant support running through this formula.

We use the FCF form, and that is a deliberate cost. Standard cold-pressed bergamot contains around 0.11 to 0.33% bergaptene, a compound that sharply increases skin's sensitivity to UV light. FCF means the bergaptene has been removed by fractional distillation, keeping the scent and leaving the phototoxicity behind.

Perfect For:

  • Dryness that outlasted the season that caused it
  • The same patch flaking over and over, however often you reapply
  • Lips that turned reactive over winter and need something gentler than a heavy cold weather balm
  • More time outdoors, where antioxidant support matters more than heavy sealing

Ingredients

  • 100% Grass Fed Suet Beef Tallow
  • Avocado oil
  • Lanolin
  • Beeswax
  • Greentea oil
  • Blueberry seed oil
  • Bergamont essential oil (bergapten free)
  • Apricot kernel oil

Why It Works

Spring Asks Something Different.

Winter damage is quiet and cumulative. Cold air holds little moisture, indoor heating holds less, wind strips what remains. Over three or four months that is a barrier running steadily behind, and the flaking still there in September is the tail end of it.

Then the season turns and the demands invert. UV exposure climbs, pollen and dust rise with it, temperatures swing between morning and afternoon. A thick occlusive balm built for July seals over accumulated damage rather than resolving it, feels heavy the moment it warms up, and offers nothing against the oxidative stress of being outdoors again.

This works the other direction. Suet, lanolin and beeswax hold the structure and the wear time. Avocado and apricot kernel soften what winter left behind. Green tea, blueberry seed and bergamot bring the antioxidant support the season calls for, in a texture light enough to wear all day.

How To Use

Apply a small amount to the lips as needed throughout the day. The balm melts on contact, so a light swipe is enough to deliver full nourishment.

For best results:

• Use on clean lips to allow the tallow and lanolin to absorb fully.
• Reapply before exposure to wind, cold, or dry air for added protection.
• Apply a slightly thicker layer at night as an overnight conditioning treatment.
• Can also be used around the lip line to soften fine, dry areas.

The balm is concentrated, so each tin lasts longer than conventional lip products. Let it warm against the skin, and allow the natural ingredients to support repair and long-lasting moisture.

Skin Experience

Our 100% tallow formulas - like Pure Tallow Glow and Vanilla Infused Tallow - are dense and firm by nature. These recipes contain no carrier oils or additives, which means the texture is harder but melts directly into the skin on contact.

If you prefer a softer, more spreadable consistency, our balms made with added carrier oils (like Radiant Repair and Balancing Beauty) are whipped to be lighter, silkier, and easier to apply.

Each product offers a different skin feel, all intentionally formulated for different needs and preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions

Beef tallow is rendered fat from cattle, rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, as well as essential fatty acids. Its composition closely resembles the natural oils found in human skin, making it an excellent moisturiser and skin barrier protector. In skincare, it’s used to deeply nourish, hydrate, and support skin health without synthetic additives.

Beef tallow has a low comedogenic rating, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores. It helps balance natural oil production, making it suitable even for acne-prone skin when used correctly.

Our beef tallow comes from a trusted local farm in Sunshine Coast, QLD. The cattle are 100% grass-fed, homegrown, and raised without hormones or antibiotics in a natural, stress-free environment. This ensures our tallow is nutrient-rich, ethical, and sustainably sourced.

Absolutely! Beef tallow is excellent for facial skin, providing deep hydration without clogging pores. It’s especially beneficial for dry or sensitive skin and can even help soothe conditions like eczema or rosacea.

Store your Fat Lab skincare products in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight. Our products are shelf-stable but keeping them at room temperature or cooler will ensure maximum freshness.

Unlike shea butter or coconut oil, beef tallow’s composition closely mimics human skin, making it more easily absorbed. It also provides a unique balance of vitamins and fatty acids that are particularly effective for long-lasting hydration and skin repair.

Yes, we use 100% grass-fed beef suet fat as the base of our skincare. Suet is the clean, hard fat found around the kidneys and loins of healthy, grass-fed cattle, known for being nutrient-dense and exceptionally pure. When it’s slowly rendered, it turns into tallow, a rich stable fat naturally packed with vitamins A, D, E and K, as well as conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) and essential fatty acids that closely mirror the oils our skin produces on its own.

We choose suet because it creates a higher-grade tallow that’s cleaner, lighter and more stable than other fats. It absorbs effortlessly into the skin, delivers deep nourishment without synthetic additives, and supports the skin barrier in a way no plant or synthetic oil can. In short, suet is the gold standard of animal fats and the reason our tallow performs the way it does.

Our beef tallow is carefully rendered and refined to remove impurities and odours. While it has a mild, natural scent, we also blend it with essential oils or botanicals for a pleasant aroma in our skincare products.

Our beef tallow is not halal-certified. We source our suet from a small, local Queensland farm that raises 100% grass-fed, hormone-free cattle, but the animals are not processed under halal certification. While our products contain no pork or alcohol and are made from pure beef fat, we do not market them as halal.

Why Your Body

LOVES Tallow

It mirrors the skin’s own lipids

Tallow’s fatty acid profile closely resembles the fats found in healthy human skin. That similarity makes it easier for the skin to recognise and integrate, rather than treat it as something foreign.

It supports the skin barrier.

Tallow reinforces the lipid barrier that controls moisture loss and protection. When the barrier is supported, skin becomes calmer, more resilient, and less reactive over time.

It delivers fat-soluble nutrients the skin actually uses.

Naturally occurring vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble, meaning the skin can access them effectively when delivered in a fat-based form like tallow.

It provides long-lasting hydration without water

Because tallow is anhydrous, it doesn’t rely on water that evaporates quickly. It reduces moisture loss by sealing and supporting the barrier, leading to hydration that lasts.

It’s highly tolerated by compromised or sensitive skin

Skin that struggles with irritation, over-exfoliation, or chronic dryness often responds better to familiar lipid structures. Tallow is rarely disruptive when formulated and used properly.

It works with skin biology, not against it

Tallow doesn’t stimulate, exfoliate, or force change. It supports normal skin function, allowing the skin to repair, stabilise, and regulate itself.
